The best I could do for an equation:
SqRt [t(xm2)^2 + 42.4 ] + t(xm2) - 14.4 = 0
t(xm1) + t(xm2) = 14.4 (minutes of time between xm1 and xm2)
if t(xm2) =5.7 then t(xm1) = 8.7
This still requires trial and error to get the right ratio of time to meridional passage from before and after ex-meridians.
