I’ve never heard “last light” used before. Is it perhaps a colloquial inverse of “first light”? I.e. when you’re just starting to not be able to make things out from their surroundings compared to when you’re just starting to make things out from them. Operating in last light might be more deceiving. I bet the rods & cones come into it somewhere. Dave
