That's right: The "Prface du rdacteur" in the first volume of the 1797 edition says that "we are not entirely deprived of the fruits of his campaign" as he took every opportunity to send back his journals to Europe. That seems to be good and common practice at the time. I don't have that edition in my library, of course: You can find it on the "Gallica" website which I have mentioned before. Of greater interest for the list seem to be the extracts from the second volume of the English translation (3rd Ed., London 1807) on the Website of the Wisconsin Historical Society Digital Colection: Chapter XII: Astronomical Observations http://content.wisconsinhistory.org/cdm4/document.php?CISOROOT=/aj&CISOPTR=1 3467 containing remarks on the performance of their chronometers and the reliability of their observations.
