There are multiple news stories running this week announcing that LORAN will begin shutting down early in February. They say that by the end of 2010 it will be in the dustbin of history. Any thoughts? Any historical epitaphs?

By the way, I've just returned to Chicago this afternoon after a wonderful 6,700 mile cross-country road trip. It will take me a day or two to catch up on two weeks of posts. I managed to read many of them while traveling but I didn't have the energy to reply.
