Hi Barry, > mer pass + DR-LON(W) = GMT of LAN > > 12h 06m + 8h 09m 12s = 20h 15m 12s > > > How does 20h 15m 12s help me in predicting LAN at my long....Is it >that simple that I just don't see it..??? To compute directly LMT and LAT try: ZT + DLo = LMT DLo is + if west of the ZM (zone central meridian) DLo is - if east of the ZM LMT Eqn. of Time = LAT You could also use the GHA method in prdicting the ZT of the merridian passage. Start with your DR longitude In the daily pages of your almanach, find the closest (smaller) GHA and substract from your DR longitude and note the time of that GHA Search the color pages "Increments and Corrections" to find the remaining degres and minutes and extract their equivalent minutes and seconds. Add and apply your ZD Exemple for today august 14 1999 Find the ZT of the mer. passage at DR 125d 36.0'W: DR Lo 125d 36.0' GHA -118d 49.9' 20h 00 GMT (from the daily pages) 6d 46.1' 27 minutes (found in the colored pages) 20h 27 GMT - ZD(+8) 8 ZT 12h27 Have fun!
