LAN calculations for GHA

Hi All,
This is my first post on Navlist. Been working through John Karl's book. Doing ok. But I can't reconcile his calculations for GHA on pager 92 (2011), when working with meridian sights. His meridian time is 17:18, which, when i convert to Arc, (5 hours , 18 min) I get 79 degrees 30 minutes. He shows 80 degrees 25.1 minutes. my calculations work with my math and with the table in the almanac. Driving me crazy because it's supposed to be easy! What am I missing?
