One of my pet peeves with Berson's problems is the way he calculates the time of LAN.  He starts with the time of the Sun's meridian passage from the daily page of the Nautical Almanac, which is rounded to the nearest minute, applies the difference in longitude between the zone meridian and the DR, converted to time to the nearest second, then gives the time of LAN to the second.  Mathematically, this seems just plain wrong to me.  If he wants to show the time of LAN to the second, he should not be using a method that has an element that is rounded to the nearest minute.

Hi to the team at NavList,
I have yet to do an OceanNavigator "Nav problem" without ending up scratching my head over an error in the solution. The poetic license that   Berson employs in presenting the problem as a fun thing to tackle for a novice celestial Navigator could lead to a loss of interest in the pursuit of the endeavor.
    Paul Jackson.
