Ronald, maybe you can answer a question for me. I have several Kollsman periscopic bubble sextants and an MA-2 hand held Kollsman bubble sextant. These all have the same averagers that run for two minutes. I also have an MA-1 pendulous mirror hand held Kollsman sextant that has the same averager except that the averager only runs for one minute. The MA-1 manual states that it should run for only one minute so my MA-1 averager works properly. My question, why was the MA-1 averager set to run for only one minute while all the others run for two minutes. My understanding is that the two minute averaging period was chosen to span more that one normal oscillation period of the plane so as to be able to cancel the normal accelerations during the oscillation period. So, why only one minute for the MA-1 since it was used in the same type aircraft with the same oscillation period? gl -- NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList+@fer3.com
