Re: Is The Kindle Practical for Navigator Yet ?

As fare as I can tell, not yet. While they put some work into software development tools, they don't seem to have emerged from "beta". The e-ink display of devices like the Kindle is great in bright light, nearly as readable as paper. In addition, the display is static, once it's rendered, so power consumption is very low. You could take a Kindle or a Nook or a Sony Reader (all e-ink) on a two-week beach vacation, reading every day, and leave the charger at home. As far as I know, there are as yet no devices which can do calculations and also use an e-ink display.
