    Norm,

Just snapped a Jupiter Venus distance with a 10MP DSLR 50mm fixed prime lens at f 5.6, ISO 800, 1/100 sec, infinite focus.

    PDT 20:28:19   UT 03:28:19   6/4/15     Lat. 34° 10' N  Lon. 119° 14' W

    Total pixels center to center = 2973  correction = +14.5'  multiplier = .37' (moa/px)

    Total moa=1114.5' = 18° 34.5' camera distance

    How did I do ?

    Greg Rudzinski

Tonight, Castor, Pollux line up with Venus. Jupiter is within 20 degrees, giving nice opportunity for calibration of digital camera.  Might be a nice exercise to photograph Venus, Jupiter over the next few weeks and see from photos if the separation is as Ephemerides predict. Combine this with Frank's exercise with Sextant and I can't think of anything more fun.
