    HI Lars, yes, I did not incorporate the Equation of Time for the purposes of the worked example. The paper was focused on the calculation of latitude, so the example was hypothetical, not Feb. 22 (note that I did not indicate a date). I merely added it to show the principle of determining longitude.

    The point about the change in in declination over the day is well-taken. One way to refine this would be to calculate the declination for the moment of local noon.
