    Managed a noon shot with the little sextant. I found the shades a bit on the bright side if used singly but too dark if both were used....

    Beautiful little instrument but I prefer something full size.

    I have had the same experience with my little Tamaya Venus. Eliminating half of the usual four index shades doesn't leave a lot to range for different conditions, although as Greg points out two shades = three possible combinations.
