The only time I have experienced snow was a couple of weeks in Montreal in the middle of winter many years ago. Too cold for me. The temp managed to hit 40C briefly and then the breeze went from the NE to SW. The former a hot inland brz the latter of the Southern Ocean. Dropped back to a pleasant mid 20Cs very quickly.
Managed a noon shot with the little sextant. I found the shades a bit on the bright side if used singly but too dark if both were used.
The result was very accurate. I cannot use an AH right now as the sun is still too far south. In its place I have a convenient high fence which I use as a horizon. I have a standard correction derived from a consistent error noted over some time which gives me a reliable sight. Makes it easy to check the sextant.
Beautiful little instrument but I prefer something full size.
