    Japanese sextant 1979
    From: Frank Atkins

I purchased a small sextant back a bit. Seems as though it had been living in a shed for some time but in another life had made its way across the Pacific on a yacht where it lived in a locker unused and friendless as the remarkable GPS was the order of the day.

The decal in the box is writen in Japanese and gives the date of manufacture as 1979. It does appear to be near identical to a Simex Junior but apart from a serial number and Bosun Mk1 stamped on either end of the arc it has no ID. I really have scoured the Internet but to no avail. I would guess its heritage is Tamaya via some one else.

Can any of the knowledgable heads out there be of any assistance.

I have to say it is now well appreciated and in friendly, caring company. :)

    Frank A.
