Thanks for reminding everyone about James's death David. He was an incredible human, at all levels.
Back in the 80's I spent 3 years cruising on a self built "Narai Mk IV", one of James's older design. I can witness how good those catamarans were, even in bad weather.
More interesting than my good and nostalgic memories of a beautiful adventure is the way Polynesians did offshore navigation. Using birds flight, stars position, ocean color or temperature, and swell / waves directions... This was surprisingly accurate and enabled them to populate the Pacific Ocean. Food for thoughts...
