George, Of course you're right that hair-splitting precision is seldom worth the effort when the object is just to get one's little boat back to the correct coast. The reason a beginner like me would fret about the tiny difference between my answer and the book's is not that I look for such precision; it is because I want to be confident I am correctly learning the methods, including how to read the tables. Getting the same answer as Dutton's would tell me I'm doing it right; getting something different makes me wonder if I missed something that will be important later. By the way, I only recently discovered this list and am working my way forward through the archives from the year 2000. I enjoy the conversation immensly, and already feel I know some of you. It's a priveledge to have access to such a collection of sages! Thanks again. -John --------------------------------------- [Sent from archive by: jkp-AT-obec.com] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
