    All flight navigation uses magnetic courses and headings (actually compass headings.) His heading display shows his magnetic heading, not true heading. So he is making the conversion from true to magnetic. Easy to make that conversion with the mnemonic TRUE-VIRGINS-MAKE-DULL-COMPANIONS.

    Very interesting video.  Question:  Is the heading in the aircraft showing magnetic?  The Astro compass bearing is true..... not magnetic, so is he converting the true to magnetic?  I would have thought the heading in the aircraft is true as well and hence no need for TVMD (+W) conversions....??
