    From Mauritius Island,

    Hello to all,

Thanks for the referenced details about the site to upload the 2002 Bowditch Edition. I find this document excellent as usual !

However, just for fun, I tried to quickly "rework" their Kochab-Spica example (paragraph 2006) given on pages 301 and following ones :

The Bowditch published final results are as follows :

Kochab Intercept : 5.2 NM towards / True Azimut 018.9 degrees , and

Spica Intercept : 20.2 NM Towards / true Azimut 143.3 degrees.

Working on the very same exmaple, I find :

    Kochab 11.5 T / 018.7 degrees , and
    Spica 22.1 T / 143.3 degrees .

Quite unexpected and huge difference ...

    Am I missing something ?

Best Regards, and thanks to whoever might shed some light here.

    Kermit

    Antoine M. Kermit Couëtte

Bowditch Chapter 15 Navigational Astronomy has a section that appears pertinent. Though it isn't an instruction manual, it might have enough information to reverse engineer the instructions. Bowditch is available on-line at
