    Remember that the intercept is the distance frim your Assumed Position to the Line of Position, not the distance to your actual position. So in your plane trig calculatuon, you just want the component parallel to the azimuth. I haven't tried this with your numbers, but something like this:
    Azimuth of different = arctan (departure / dlat)
    Angle = Azimuth of difference - Azimuth of body
    Intercept = distance * cos (Angle)
