    Are you perhaps watching the semidiameter of the sun changing ?  For instance
    on August 25 the Nautical Almanac lists the sun's semidiameter as 15.8' and
    today, December 12, it lists the semidiameter as 16.3'.  Were both
    observations taken on the same day ?
