Re: Impressed with the Raft Book

I thought list members would like to know that Gatty also authored "Finding Your Way Without Map or Compass". Dover Press published this book and I have located copies of it on eBay for around $6. According to the description, the book is intended for navigation on both land and sea. I have ordered a copy.

The Raft Book (civilian edition) is considerably more expensive and would be fragile for someone intending it for actual use. (I understand that there was a military edition of The Raft Book printed on waterproof paper.) I wonder if anyone can compare the contents of the two books? Is there material in The Raft Book omitted from Finding Your Way that would be valuable for a mariner?

    Thanks,

    Peter Hollings
