Re: If looking for a Bubble Sextant...

Some years ago, I got the Heath & Safety Officer at my place of work to run his Geiger counter over my A12, A10, A10A, and my Smiths Kelvin Hughes sextants including my MkIXs, and he found nothing.  However, I would imagine the main danger with those WW2 flight instruments which do have radium paint containing alpha particles is for inveterate tinkerers and amateur repairers.  Imagine the situation, instrument in bits, dried up paint flaking off, some of it was laid on quite thickly, when partner brings him a nice cup of tea and a couple of chocolate biscuits.  Need I go on? “Now wash your hands!”  DaveP
