Jared Sherman sent the posting, copied below, to the list. I replied, inadvertently, to Jared directly rather than to the list. Jared has responded to that reply via the list, and listmembers will not have seen what he was referring to. Below, then, is a copy of my reply to Jared. As for his posted response to that, there isn't a lot of ground separating his position from mine. George. Jared Sherman wrote- >Tonight I ran across some threads that came from here--but were posted on >IRBS.COM. > >http://www.i-DEADLINK-com/lists/navigation/0206/0011.html is one of them. > >I was wondering if IRBS had simply stolen the messages, or had permission >to repost them. ==================== Well, I for one am all in favour of the free-and-easy open nature of the web. Most of those posting material do not expect to maintain or enforce any copyright on it, I suspect. If they do, they should say so. So I think Jared's description of the messages as being "stolen" is unnecessarily pejorative. If it was a message I had written, I would be quite pleased to find it being quoted. Beware the narcissistic pleasures of entering ones own name into a search-engine! Jared's message could open up an interesting topic for discussion.
