Well, I'd like to think that there would be a notice on the Coast Guard's navigation website (http://www.navcen.uscg.gov, http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/navinfo/Gps/ActiveNanu.aspx), you can also subscribe to their e-mail advisories and status messages (TIS-PF-NISWS) - though access to either or both of those might be problematic while offshore. -- GregR ----- Original Message ----- From: Bruce Hamilton To: navlist@fer3.com Sent: Sunday, December 20, 2009 1:20 PM Subject: Re: [NavList 11303] Hundreds of millions of GPS receivers The Technology it just fine. It's the politics that add the error. Celestial has never had error introduced into it at someone's whim. This makes me cautious about relying on it as an infallible source of information.Besides, I think I could tell if someone was at my almanac with the whiteout. If the US thinks it is in their interest to put in error, they will, especially if it is a defense issue. That is why other other GPS systems are being planned. Unless you have a DGPS or another reference, you will not know the error is there. -- NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList+@fer3.com -- NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList+@fer3.com
