    Tony,

    Attached are printable star charts.  For those of us in the northern hemisphere the sky is dominated by the constellations Ursa Major, Cassiopeia, and Orion. Even though these constellations and their respective stars are easy to identify It is better to select lone stars such as Sirius for  celestial navigation purposes to avoid  observing the wrong star when presetting during early evening twilight or when using a x4 or more power scope.
