A pocket calculator or slide rule will make short work of the horizontal sextant angle problem using the formula:
1/2 Distance mark A to mark B / sin(horizontal sextant angle) = radius
Couldn't find any mention of this or any discussions on the horizontal sextant angle in Captain Shufeldt's book SLIDE RULE FOR THE MARINER. It seems worthy of inclusion I would think.
