    Yes, you can see on that strip - the lettering on the side of the hull is elongated at the bottom, too, in addition to the mirroring of the hull at the stern.

    Water and air temps?  Wind conditions?

    One of the most amazing periods I had was in 90 degree air temp while sea kayaking out of Jonesport Maine, with water temps in the 50's (F), and very little wind.   We had superior images, inferior, magnified images, fata morganas, light houses appearing out of nowhere - you name it.   These were freaky conditions.  Normally you would have expected a lot of advective fog, but there was just enough of a land-breeze to keep the fog at bay and contributed to these.   Alas, my camera died on the first day from rough seas swamping my kayak.
