    Dear Antoine,

My assumed position for this exercise was the fix I got from the meridian transit calculation.  It seems to me that you used that same latitude (8.4') but the your AP longitude came from my rapid-fire result (58.3') instead of my meridian-transit result (53.7'). Could that be the difference?

On a more general note, however, I am curious to learn about the method that you use for this.  I do the simplest thing I could think of; calculate the crossings of all pairs of available LOPs (in this case, 6 choose 2 = 15 pairs) and do a simple average and standard deviation calculation for these fixes.

    Thanks.

    Peter Hakel

    Dear Peter,

    This seems interesting !!!

From the 16:30 position you quoted, N4208.4E00658.3 and with your value of Speed Made Good I ran the oberved heights you quoted with your value of Speed Made Good.

Can you confirm all the results you typed hereunder since I am not getting the final same result as yours.

... well, do this only if you have time !

    Thank you and

    Best Regards
