I agree with your conclusion. The shape of the AH is virtually identical to an Elliott Brothers (London) black glass reflective AH that I have. Dimensions are approx 5inch x 4inch. Pic attached. No date on it, but the box and design/finish of the AH look early 20th century. It in fact could well be an Elliot, but the pic is too blurry to be sure. My only question is whether spirit bubbles would have worked in the Antarctic cold.
