Hello Kermit,

I will read -- or at least scan -- the doctoral thesis with interest.

The tide recorder (marégraphe) in Marseille is located on the coastal road, very near the official residence that I had the privilege of occupying during my time there as U.S. Consul General (1994-97).  I passed by the marégraphe during my morning jogs but never had an opportunity to see the mechanism.  Very nice memories.

Je lirai la thèse de doctorat, peut-être en diagonal, mais avec intérêt. 

Le marégraphe de Marseille se trouve sur la corniche, à proximité de la résidence officielle que j’ai eu le privilège d’occuper en tant que Consul-Général des Etats-Unis dans la cité phocéenne entre 1994 et 1997.   Je passais devant le marégraphe en faisant mon footing matinal mais n'ai jamais pu voir le mécanisme.  De très beaux souvenirs.
