Sextant Astra 111B
Shots during October, between evening civil twl. and evening nautical twl.
AZ's and altitudes of stars (Antares, Altair and Fomalhaut) obtained with 2102D. Times from Daily Pages, 2010 Nautical Almanac.
Results: Good three body fixes, inside 5 NM of KP, shooting less than full Moon, Jupiter and Altair. Good three body fixes, inside 5 NM of KP shooting Altair, Jupiter and Fomalhaut, when I could spot it. Couldn't find Antares at all. Stars mentioned are bright stars, Antares at 1.0, Altair at 0.8 and Fomalhaut at 1.2.
My shooting location is Emerald Isle, which lays about 10 Degrees North of due East-West. My shooting view is South, and limited to a spread running from about 110 D to 260 D Magnetic, due to existing structures and such.
I use the Daily Pages of the 2010 NA, and USPS SR96a for Sight Reduction, with USPS CLS98 Plotting Sheet.
Have tried early AM shots, which so far have not worked, for some reason or other.
Anyhow, re the above sad tale, does any obvious mistake jump out at the reader? If so, please advise.
Thanks.
