While meandering about as a tourist at the old Royal Observatory at Greenwich, I came across a Hatton chronometer from c.1810 in a case that is only 32 serial numbers above the one purchased by the USN in 1812 which you were researching. It's prominently displayed in their "Time for the Navy" gallery. I am including a couple of photos. They came out well considering the photos were taken with a flash through a glass case.
