Greetings From Montana(USA) I have been "lurking" on this list for a few weeks and while I find the discussion interesting most of if is well above my level. Since I would like to post a request I thought I might introduce myself. I am a retired field artillery officer who has always been interested in navigation. Since I used several celestial techniques in the service I became interested in celestial navigation a year or so ago and have been working at using the Nautical Almanac and my sextant. I use an artificial horizon on a photo tripod that seems to work pretty well. For my calculations I have an Excel spreadsheet that uses the methods described in the Nautical Almanac. I also wrote a simple C program for my TI89 hand calculator based on the methods in the Almanac. I recently installed 'Navigator Light' on my computer and while I think it is a great program the results(Hc)that I obtain differ significantly from both my spreadsheet and my calculator. The spreadsheet and calculator agree with 1' for Hc and 1 for Z. The Tecepe program will be 20-40' different. I have redone my stuff several times and cannot find the problem. I would appreciate if someone, who has a calc spreadsheet or C code, would send me the same so I can determine why I am getting the large differences. My email is: myrtwebb@centurytel.net Myrt Webb
