The discussion about mercury reminded me of the flask of mercury we had in the high school chemistry/physics lab. There was a caution going around about protecting your class ring from the mercury as it would easily coat the ring. The recommended remedy was to let it wear off as you wore the ring. I also remember collecting the mercury from silent light switches and thermostats. We did have small pieces of some material that we used to used to see the giger counter work (don't know if that is spelled right). We used to hold the radio active source in our hands to make the counter tick. And, of course, there was that marvelous asbestos insulation. Makes me wonder what we have today that will shown to be deadly stuff. Maybe it will turn out to be too much email! George Istok
