While working for Coherent Lasers, we designed and tested a CO2 laser chicken de-beaker. We actually sold one.
When in Russia, a few years ago, we visited Uglich, site of the largest watch factory in USSR, Chaika Watches. They now only sell souvenir watches (they run, I have one, no two- one to tell time, other to cross-check the first).
