You are preaching to the choir. I am guilty of using "averaging" as a generic term for whatever method the practitioner uses to meld the individual observations into one useable point of time and Hs/Ho for reduction. Popular methods seem to be averaging, linear regression, and fitting to slope. I have long been a proponent of fitting to slope as the list archives will attest to. I do understand it is fall in oz (which seems to be not to your liking), and spring in the states. Keep you spirits up by getting at least 15 minutes of sunshine a day--sailing season will come around again.
