I got something similar claiming to come from my sister and stating that she was traveling in France and had been robbed and needed several thousand dollars to pay her hotel bill so that she could come back to the U.S. I knew that she was in France so the hacker's must have had some way to find that out too. I knew that it was a scam because I knew that my sis would never pay that much for a hotel room.
