    Hi Wolfgang

    The lock to unlock turn is very slight.  It also works independently of gravity.  I can hear a click noise when I turn to unlock, at the very opposite end of the tube where it interacts with Tube I.

    Possibly a cam?  Many other concepts are ruled out as the turn is about 30 odd degrees.

    locking mechanisms work even after 70 years when
    rubber has usually turned hard and unflexible...
