Anyway, I want to take the step from 249 to 229 and I'm > looking for advice on worksheets, etc. For HO-229 forms, Davis makes nice ones that you can buy from Celestaire (see www.celestaire.com for their on-line catalog). I'm not sure you'll see a dramatic difference in accuracy between HO-249 and HO-229. Moreover, both use assumed positions, while your Celesticomp works from your DR, which is always nice. Not to steer you away from 229, which is what I use afloat, but if you're going to use your calculator as your primary method and are looking for a backup, table-driven method, you might consider: -- A DR-based table -- a few more calculations, but more convenient fixes -- A slimmer table than 249 or 229 -- 208, 211, or their progeny, esp. the tables in the back of the Nautical Almanac. The ideal backup might be Volume II of Bowditch (1975 or 1984 editions), which includes a wealth of information including the Ageton (HO-211) tables. This plus an almanac will see you through anything. -- Peter Smith -- psmith@wellspring.us.dg.com Data General Corp., Westboro, Massachusetts (for whom I do not speak) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-= =-= TO UNSUBSCRIBE, send this message to majordomo@roninhouse.com: =-= =-= navigation =-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=
