    Re: H.O. 229/249: publication dates

According to Bowditch (1962) a preliminary edition of H.O. 249 Volume 1 was published in 1947 and the altitudes included refraction for a height of eye of 10,000 feet. This was modified and the First Edition was published in 1951 for epoch 1955. Volumes 2 and 3 were published in 1952.

I couldn't find a reference for when H.O. 229 was published. I look at my set and the earliest volume was published in 1970 and the latest one in my set was 1980. I was surprised that I didn't find information about the publication date in my 1977 Bowditch. I also found the receipt for the set in one of the books. I bought the set on February 22, 1980 and they cost $9.40 each.

And according to Gary's website, "H.O 249 was first published in 1951".
