Hi Gary:
I came across Bowditch's suggestion of using Pub 229 to solve Great Circle navigation distances and initial course and decided to apply it to my graphic.
Please find the attached picture with the solution for the Ej #2 on p 349 of the 2002 Ed.
Now I see the parallel with E. Wright's work that you mentioned, even though this looks a little less messy.
