I am confused by your diagram and the intent.

An orthographic projection of the plane of the celestial meridian showing both horizon and equatorial coordinate systems provides a nice graphical solution of the navigational triangle.

In the alternative, an analytic solution by calculator not significantly different than the calculations you carry out to draw your diagram, gives what to me is the ultimate current solution.

I can understand being just fascinated by some idea despite it's impracticality. Is there something more here that I am missing?

    Dave Fleming
