Doing pencil and paper calculations can be fun, but sometimes that's not
the point. I occasionally clear lunars on paper when I'm messing around with a
historical method. But I usually clear them by software, too. No one's
gonna be using these things in practical navigation, so the skill of catching
errors in paper calculations is perhaps not necessarily worth the trouble of
acquiring.
