George H, you wrote: "To download the file he refers to would take me over 2 hours, not 15 minutes." Ooops. You're right. I dropped that factor of 8. Two hours probably is close to the level where many lines drop the connection. In which case, reading through google books online really is a much better alternative, despite our pack-rat tendencies. I was thinking about it while I was walking around this afternoon... it's been literally ten years since I had a dial-up line as my main Internet access. But I do indeed remember the first time I needed to download an 80 megabyte file on a dial-up line --back in 1996. It was a real nuisance. High-speed Internet changes EVERYTHING. Both because of speed, and because it's "always on". If you have money to spare, put it towards that before anything else. You'll see... It changes everything. -FER --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to NavList@fer3.com To , send email to NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
