I owned a Frieberger sextant some years ago. Nice instrument but there is
one feature about it that I found to be a significant problem. The release
mechanism is constructed such that aluminium pivots on aluminium. After a
while, the whole mechanism bids up and then you have to take the bloody
thing apart to unstick it. I paid $400.00 Cdn for mine but given a choice,
I don't think I would buy one again.
