    Bill, I agree. Carry all the precision of measured data forward and wait til the end of the computation. But don't use all the digits from intermediate results. For example, say you are averaging three sextant shots with the tenths of a minute readings being  .3; .5; .6. The average is .46666666666, drop all those extra digits.Round to .47, just one digit more than the measurement itself.
