A NavList lurker sent me this article about backup navigation failure in an RQ-4B Global Hawk automated aircraft (the word "drone" has begun to cover too many things... a Global Hawk is a full-sized robot aircraft):
This is not relevant to traditional navigation except that it's a lesson in the philosophy of backups.
