    We have a cruiser stern on our motor boat and have never shipped a wave
    over the back.  Not sure about being such good mariners - but we do
    respect the sea.  Also agree on echo sounder - maybe even more use than
    radar.  The big thing around here is tide, as we have very strong tidal
    currents to contend with along with the meeting of the North Sea and
    Atlantic Ocean, which is also why we have such a lot of nice seabirds.
