    GPS time display unreliable

    A GPS receiver can be a good substitute for a shortwave receiver as an
    accurate time source, if you first confirm its accuracy. I think it's
    already been pointed out here that the displayed time may be in error
    by a few seconds. Mine are sometimes bang on, other times one second
    off. This is insignificant for the bubble sextant celestial sights I
    do at home.
    
    However, I've learned that some receivers can be several *minutes*
    off. The error is apparently undetectable, the receiver's other
    functions being unaffected. A memory reset is necessary to clear it.
    Thankfully, this seems to be confined to a few models:
