At the bottom of your post, appears a few lines of comment from Frank Reed, at least it's signed FER, and mentions some of the "virtues" of CN. Might I add the following, Aside from "it being good, clean fun", it gets the kid out into the sun, the wind and what one hopes might be the fresh air too.
